The link between Elon Musk and former president Donald Trump has been more clear than ever since the X owner's appearance at a rally earlier this month, where he was observed hopping around akin to an aging rabbit dodging a hunter's bullets in an old Disney cartoon.
However, it now seems that the candidate may no longer be the Prince Charming to Musk's Cinderella. This comes after an outing during which Trump reportedly neglected to watch the tech executive do a cannonball into the sea.
"For the first time since the 2024 presidential race began, Mr. Musk is considering all of his options," said a representative on behalf of the Tesla CEO. "Elon was happy to endorse Donald Trump given their mutual father issues and a differing, yet strongly held desire for adoration from teenagers. Now, he's handling the realization that this bond may not be as two-sided as he'd hoped."
The rift began earlier this week, when the presidential hopeful joined Musk on his yacht off of the Florida coast. The meeting kicked off well, as the pair were seen smiling at their respective phones as they scrolled through their own social media profiles. The outing took a turn when the SpaceX founder stood up and asked Trump to "check out this sick cannonball."
After a little badgering, the reality star reportedly replied "I'm watching, I'm watching." In actuality, Trump returned his attention to his phone as soon as Musk jumped from the ledge.
Upon emerging from the water, a broad smile quickly melted to a pained grimace as he noticed his guest ogling a video of his own photo-op, during which he worked the hardest shift of his life at a closed McDonald's.
Though Musk attempted to brush off the offense and even tried to get the 45th U.S. president's eyes on him by striking up a conversation about golf, all he received were half-hearted mumbles. In turn, the billionaire decided to salvage his day on the water by placing a towel over his sopping hair and digging his now prune-like fingertips into a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos.
The jury is still out as to whether Elon Musk will continue to support Donald Trump during this election cycle, but much like his cannonball technique, Musk is likely to aim his efforts wherever he can make the biggest splash.
