Biden calls punching Helen Keller early in political career ‘an honest mistake’

Speaking at a White House press conference on Tuesday, President Joe Biden freely and without prompt admitted to having punched Helen Keller early in his political career, referring to the act as “an honest mistake.”

The supposed misunderstanding occurred in 1968, when Biden was gearing up for his first Delaware Senate campaign and the famed disability advocate was living out her final days in neighboring Connecticut.

“Look, I was a sly young pup who had dealt with a few too many alleycats up to that point. Helen and I hashed it out and now we’re ready to play some ball,” assured the president of the United States.

Faced with a stunned audience of journalists, Biden explained how Keller gave him a look that said “Hey, Bucko — let’s scrap,” adding that the Presidential Medal of Freedom honoree first appeared to have the “shiftiness of a white-tailed jackrabbit.”

Making clear there would be no use in blaming Keller for the incident, Biden confirmed he has calmed down in decades since due to both age and “a few other knicks and knacks.”

Immediately following the session, Biden’s team was reportedly attempting to erase evidence that the president went on to brag about the episode behind closed doors.
